How can we help?
The quickest answers are below. If yours isn't there, the form underneath reaches a real person.
How do I set up my new Kala Phone?
The first-day guide covers the whole handoff from your old phone.
Will my old texts and call history come over?
No. Contacts come over, and WhatsApp carries its own history. Text threads, call history, alarms, and saved Wi-Fi passwords stay on the old phone: your Kala Phone arrives already set up, so the usual Android transfer step never runs, and no later step brings them across.
If a conversation matters, screenshot it before the old phone goes in the drawer.
Why aren't texts from my iPhone friends arriving?
iMessage is almost always the cause: Apple keeps routing messages to your old iPhone until you tell it to stop.
Turn iMessage off on the old iPhone (Settings, then Messages). No longer have it? Apple has a web page for removing your number; search "deregister iMessage".
Still missing texts from one person days later? Often their phone is the snag: an iPhone on old software keeps trying the old route until they update it.
Why is my number taking a while to move?
Your carrier moves your number over, and it can take a few hours.
Longer than that? If you're also switching carriers, the usual snag is a transfer PIN: most carriers won't release a number without one, and only your old carrier can issue it (their app, your account page, or a phone call). Get the PIN, then ask your new carrier to finish the transfer. Stuck after that? Email us.
How do I bring my WhatsApp history over?
WhatsApp moves your history itself during its setup on the new phone. A big history can take up to a couple of hours; keep both phones on Wi-Fi until it finishes.
Settle your chats before the old phone is gone, moved over or backed up. The full recipe is on WhatsApp's page in the Kala Store.
How do I get my contacts over?
There's a path from every old phone, and none of them needs a Google account.
From an iPhone: sign in at iCloud.com on a computer, export your contacts as a vCard (.vcf) file, get it to your Kala Phone, and open it in Contacts.
From Android: in the old Contacts app, Export (sometimes "Share all") makes one .vcf file. Quick Share it to your Kala Phone and open it in Contacts.
Signed in to Google with synced contacts? They should arrive on their own within a few minutes.
Not sure? Email us and we'll walk you through it.
Why isn't an app I need in the Store?
One test decides the whole catalog: if an app ends, it's welcome; if it's built to never end, it isn't.
Missing something that passes? There's an "Ask for an app" row in the Kala Store, or email us. We review requests and add apps that pass.
What happens if I factory reset the phone?
A factory reset erases the whole phone, Kala included, and what's left is an ordinary Android phone. We will never block a reset: erasing everything you've set up is a deliberate step, so leaving that door open costs the promise nothing. If you want Kala back afterward, write to us and we'll set it up with you again.
How do returns work?
Start with an email. You'll deal with the same person the whole way through.
What if something's wrong with the phone itself?
The warranty page covers what's included and how a claim works.
